What happens to leading zero bytes?
Each one becomes a leading 1. The bytes 0000 encode to "11" rather than being lost, because the conversion tracks them separately from the numeric value.
How should I write the hex input?
Use 0-9 and a-f in whitespace-separated groups of an even number of digits. Prefixes such as 0x, commas, and other separators are rejected rather than stripped, so nothing is read as a byte you did not paste.
Why is there an input size limit?
Base58 conversion is quadratic in the length of the input, so the Tool caps input at 8,192 characters to keep the browser responsive. Oversized input is reported, never silently truncated.
