What does "not valid UTF-8" mean here?
Not every byte sequence spells text. When the decoded bytes are not valid UTF-8, this Tool reports that fault instead of guessing with replacement characters. Convert to binary instead to see the raw bytes.
Why is an odd-length hex run rejected instead of padded?
A hex Digit run must be a multiple of its Digit width — two digits per byte for hex, eight for binary. A shorter leftover is reported as a Conversion fault rather than silently zero-padded into a byte that was never pasted.
What can I paste in — does it have to match one Delimiter?
No. Whitespace, commas, and the matching 0x/0b marker are stripped wherever they appear, so a hex dump, a C byte array, or a plain unbroken run all read the same way.
