Which Encoding profile should I use?
Use Component for a value inside a URL, Full URL to preserve URL delimiters such as /, ?, #, and &, or Form for an HTML form body where spaces become + and line endings become CRLF.
Why does Component leave !, ', (, ), and * unescaped?
Component follows JavaScript's encodeURIComponent exactly, including its unescaped !'()* characters. RFC 3986 would percent-encode those characters; choose the profile that matches the code or system consuming the value.
What if I encode text that already contains %20?
The percent sign is input data, so encoding %20 again produces %2520. The Tool shows an advisory when it spots an existing Percent-triplet, but leaves the input available to convert.
